Christmas Merriment

We didn't get to join Bruce's family in Wisconsin this Christmas as originally planned because we decided driving through all the recent winter storms through the plains wasn't such a good idea. From the sounds of some people spending up to four nights at the O'Hare airport in Chicago and all the rest of the flight delay madness, it doesn't sound like flying would have been any better. While it wasn't what we'd planned, our Christmas was wonderful and certainly full of joy and appreciation for everything with which we're blessed. My brother is with us, and this is only our third Christmas together since we've been adults. It's been wonderful to share in all the holiday preparation with him.

Bruce baking some Finnish rye loaf - breads are his specialty

Tomi helping to construct the gingerbread house

Serif and Tomi keeping a close eye on cookie decorating...

Bruce and I creating the pieces for the gingerbread house

The Holiday Spread - meatballs, rutabaga casserole, potato casserole, rosolli, ham, bread, glögi...

Serif

Opening a few gifts

Proof of the traditional roll in the snow from Sauna - that got the blood pumpin'!!!

We hope each and everyone of you has felt as blessed this Christmas. Love to you all!

I love that gingerbread house. My mum had our 'adopted' nana make one for my birthday cake when I was maybe four. To be honest, at that age, the taste was not as appealing as how it looked, which entranced me. Yours looks fantastic, too!
